Curated by Ellie Reid and Lisa Peachey, Transformer set out to investigate a movement within current practice that engaged with the inherent structures of material. Fifteen artists were chosen who were deconstructing or reconfiguring material in order not only to acknowledge formal concerns, but also to transcend them. Through this elevation of material, can the act of looking, or gazing at, be replaced by active experience?
